Celebrating 404 Day at the Atlanta Tech Village

On 404 Day 2024, I took a morning trip up to ATV Buckhead to hear the Fireside Chat with David Cummings and attend the Coffee and Code meetup.

It's been an interesting six months for me.  Or year, I suppose.

Let me check my email...

Wow, right on the dot: I took my first tour of the Atlanta Tech Village's South Downtown Masons location on Apr 10, 2024 at 2 PM.

I had seen the news of the South Downtown "acquisition" via an artist friend of mine on Instagram, and recognized a few of the names involved.  Specifically, the name David Cummings, as Hannon Hill was my first job out of college way back in the year 2006.

I happened to be working at Hannon Hill when he and Adam Blitzer started up Pardot.  Also, shout out Derek Grant!  Over the years, I would periodically check in on David's blog.  It came up during the fireside chat: Mr. Cummings is a prolific blogger, with 3,000+ blog posts on entrepreneurship and startup at his website davidcummings.org.

After spending a decade primarily focused on pursuing a career in music, I returned to the office world from 2017 to 2019, returning for a 2nd stint as a full-time employee at Hannon Hill.  By this time they were based out of the Atlanta Tech Village in Buckhead.

Last year, I jumped at the opportunity to be one of the first people in their South Downtown Masons location.   The brand name was different then, but the concept for the company was similar to their new Terminus initiative.

I want to provide creative
services to artists, aspiring entrepreneurs, and business owners who need and want assistance with their digital presence.

I don’t consider myself a marketing specialist, but my mentality is this: when people come look for you on social media you should have some quality content to consume.

I think way too many companies are overlooking the fact that visual oriented social media platforms can be a talent recruiting tool.

When I saw ATV announce they were shutting Mason’s down for a revamp late last year my heart sank.  I realized I had not yet fulfilled my mission, which was to launch some type of SaaS product built around helping artists, entrepreneurs, and businesses manage their web presence.

I wanted to attend the code and coffee event to hopefully meet some people I could get excited about my ideas.

The event was more like an after party for the fireside, but it was fun to break out the gimbal and do some event coverage.
